It is Saturday morning, and the shop of Mr. Bell the barber is full. Everyone wants a haircut before a wedding.
A small boy named Toby sits in the chair. He is afraid of the scissors. He hides his head under his arms.
Mr. Bell is kind. He does not laugh. He shows Toby the scissors and lets him hold the comb.
"We will go slowly," he says. He is patient. Snip, snip, snip. Toby watches in the mirror.
Mr. Bell is good at his work. The haircut is neat and quick. Toby looks at himself and smiles.
The other customers clap. Mr. Bell is considerate and gives Toby a small mirror for home. "You were brave," he says.
A thought to keep
A little patience can make a big fear smaller.
