Mr. Okafor is a carpenter. His workshop smells of wood and glue. Today he is making a small chair for his neighbour's daughter, Ada.
He will measure every piece twice. "A chair must be strong," he says. "A child will climb on it."
Ada visits after school. She wants a chair with a star on the back. Mr. Okafor is patient. He listens, draws the star, and cuts it carefully.
His apprentice, Tunde, is good at sanding. He makes the wood smooth. Mr. Okafor is proud of him.
On Friday, the chair is ready. Ada sits on it and smiles. "It is the best chair in the world," she says.
Mr. Okafor laughs. "It is only a small chair," he says. "But it is made with care."
A thought to keep
Good work is measured twice and made with care.
